Artist's Description

A Scottish Stone circle.

Walking in Scotland in 2004 I came across a circle of stones in a field on a hill. Unfortunately as this was before GPS coding on images I have never been quite sure exactly where this circle is. Using an Olympus OM4 camera I took two, colour transparencies to cope with the extreme contrast between the ground and sky, knowing that one day I would be able to put them together. Fifteen years on I have gotten 'round to it and created the black and white image I had in mind at the time.

At university in 1978 my first SLR was an Olympus OM1, completely manual and built like a Swiss watch. When I started work, taking pictures was relegated to weekends and holidays as finding time became more difficult. Now having retired I can pursue my passion.
